  • Backpack technical tests We carry out laboratory tests to check components: fabrics, buckles, straps, foam, zips....For example for fabric:abrasion-resistance, wear and tear, colour retention in the sun, resistance to washing, waterproofing...And a finished product undergoes an accelerated real-life situation test, representing the use of the product over the years in order to check the resistance of the seams. We fill the product with ballasts, put it on a model and simulate the fast walking movement on 1000 of cycles.
  • 10-year technical partnership guarantee The heavy stitching research and development department, Quechua's partner for researching and testing its components and assemblies, conducted tests simulating backpack ageing. The tests focused on components, seams and the end product. As a result of these tests, Quechua can guarantee all bags tested for a duration of 10 years from the date of purchase indicated on the sales receipt.
  • 10-year guarantee, conditions The guarantee covers any backpack faults, except those caused by normal wear and tear and improper use. This special 10-year guarantee will only be granted upon presentation of the product and sales receipt. If the product is covered by the warranty, it will be repaired or exchanged free of charge. This commercial guarantee does not affect any statutory guarantees that are applicable in the country of purchase.
  • How is backpack volume measured? The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method: we fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with little balls. We then empty the balls into a graduated container which provides the equivalent volume in litres with a tolerance ranging a couple of %.
  • How to adjust your backpack? 1 - Loosen all the straps (straps, hip belt, load adjuster straps). 2 - Put the backpack on. 3 - For backpacks with a capacity of 50 L or more, place the hip belt correctly (it should sit over the pelvis) and tighten it. For smaller volumes, place the belt around the waist. 4 - Tighten the strap buckles. 5 - Finally, adjust the load boosters to your liking.
  • How to pack a backpack? Place sleeping equipment at the bottom.Place heavy materials close to your back (tent, camping stove, food). Pack your clothes around these items. The groundsheet should be placed under the flap and the tent beneath the pack if there is no space inside. Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) Place small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. If carrying a hydration pack (water bladder), this should be placed in its special pocket along the back.
  • Environmental measurements Decathlon together with Quechua, has decided to inform you of the environmental impact of its hiking backpacks over their entire lifespan. This work resulted from an experiment completed in July 2011 alongside the French Ministry of Ecology. ABIDE scores were assigned based upon a comparison of Quechua bags only. From hiking to mountain trail via Nordic skiing, ski-safari, snow-shoe walking, camping and bivouac. The word "Quechua" originates from the heart of the Peruvian Andes Indian tribes - they are highly-skilled mountain sports enthusiasts, their sincere affection towards mountain and their spirit of preserving nature act as the guide our brand as we proceed forward.
Quechua headquarter located at the foot of Mont Blanc reflects our value: closer to the mountains and our customers. During Quechua’s product development, we always abide by our three promises to customers i.e. to ensure that our products must be innovative, of an environmental-friendly design and be sold at the most reasonable price.
