Technical information

Silicone skirt

The skirt of this mask (the soft part of the mask in contact with the face) is made of silicone, an extremely flexible material.
A silicone skirt fits flexibly to the contours of the face, creating a watertight seal.
The thickness of the SCD 500 mono is optimised to ensure an optimal seal, with the thinnest possible skirt to avoid discomfort and points of contact on the face.

Choice of colours and sizes

The SCD 500 mono mask is available in 3 colours: blue/yellow, grey/black and turquoise
The opaque skirts help reduce glare due to light conditions.
The use of the fluorescent yellow on one of the designs helps increase contrast under water and better identify the diver in cloudy water.

This mask is available in two sizes (M and L) so that everyone can find the mask that suits them.

Tempered glass lenses

Tempered glass is two to five times more durable than traditional glass. When it shatters, it breaks into small pieces, reducing the risk of a major accident. It has the advantage of better scratch resistance compared to a polycarbonate lens.

Mask adjustment

Micrometric control buckles together with the notched strap on either side of the mask allow easy and highly accurate adjustment of the mask, even when wearing gloves.

Our technical partner: Planet Ocean (PADI 5-star diving centre) based at the Water Sports Centre by Decathlon in Hendaye, France. The centre uses SUBEA equipment throughout the year.
The team of instructors are rigorously involved in the development of our SUBEA diving products: from the design phase with the SUBEA team (product manager, designers and engineers), to the endurance tests with the help of the centre’s divers (from beginners to trainee instructors, all year long).

Maintenance advice

Rinse in clean water after use. Avoid paper towels that contain silicone, as it may scratch your glasses. Be also wary of household cleaners such as disinfectants and acetone, which could damage your lenses and treatments.. Dry after each usage..
