We conduct laboratory tests to validate components: fabrics, buckles, straps, foam padding, zips, etc. For example, for a fabric: resistance to abrasion & tearing, colour fastness in UV light, resistance to washing, waterproofing, etc. Then a test is conducted on finished product replicating forces on backpack over a number of years in order to check the strength of the assemblies. The backpack is filled with weights & placed on a mannequin that replicates thousands of fast walking movements.
The warranty covers the defects of the backpack, excluding those resulting from normal wear and improper use. This special 10-year warranty will only be granted upon presentation of the receipt and the product, and if the product is covered by the warranty, it will be repaired or exchanged, free of charge. This sales warranty does not affect the statutory rights applicable in your country/state.
Quechua has conducted tests to simulate the ageing of its backpacks. These tests are conducted on the components, seams and finished product. Quechua and Decathlon use the results to guarantee the bags tested for a period of 10 years, starting from the date of purchase indicated on the receipt.
Oxylane and Quechua are committed to informing you about the environmental impact of the hiking backpack products over their entire life cycle. This work follows on from an experiment carried out from July 2011 with the French Ministry of Ecology. The scores from A to E were assigned by comparing Quechua backpacks only. Details on this project and the calculation methods used are available at http://www.oxylane.com/20/demarche-environnementale

Our team of designers is based at the foot of the Mont Blanc, in Haute-Savoie (France). All year round, we create and develop products that are attractive, simple and technologically advanced. We then test them ruthlessly in the field, because we believe that the only way to continually improve is to conduct tests in the real-life conditions that you will experience.
