Fleece material: Insulation provided by air
The fleece component is designed to trap air in the space formed by its texture; this air acts as a natural insulator, keeping the body warm. The brushing of the knit fabric is what traps the air.
This component has been tested in the laboratory for a comfort temperature ranging from 7 to 10°C without an additional jacket.
Durability warranty of 2 years
We test the ageing of our hiking fleeces to guarantee their durability. We guarantee:
- resistance to rubbing by the rucksack and loving arms, to delay the appearance of pilling, characteristic of this material.
- strength of stitching
- resistance of fleece materials after 3 washes (size stability)
-colour fastness after washing, under UV light and in contact with perspiration.
OUR ECO-DESIGN RESPONSIBILITY
At Decathlon we know that our manufacturing and distribution operations have a significant impact on the environment and we have a responsibility to act. Nothing is perfect, however the use of recycled polyester in manufacturing the fleece material means we can avoid using new oil-based resources. Waste is transformed into resources that can be used again. We work on other initiatives in parallel to reduce our impact even further.
Bulk dyeing or "dope-dyeing" is the addition of pigments when manufacturing the textile yarn. This technique reduces the environmental impact compared to a conventional dyeing process, which adds the pigments once the threads have been formed into a fabric and requires a lot of water, polluting it in the process.
The black MH100 fleece uses this new dyeing process and we are currently working on ways of replicating this for the other colour versions.
A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The environmental impact of the product is calculated based on its entire life cycle and using different indicators. A general score from A to E is provided to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, rucksacks, etc).
Decathlon is committed to displaying this environmental information.
