Inflating Power of down/feather filling

This 85% down, 15% feather padded gilet has a guaranteed minimum fill power of 660 CUIN. The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. So, down with a higher fill power (higher CUIN number) will occupy more space, trap more air and provide greater thermal insulation.

Weight of the filling

S: 119 g
M: 124 g
L: 130 g
XL: 136 g: 142 g
XXXL: 149 g

The advantages of duck down and feather filling*

The durability and fill power properties of down give this jacket 3 qualities for hiking:
- Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers
- Ultra low weight: down is lighter than synthetic wadding while offering the same degree of warmth. This saves even more weight in your backpack
- Ultra-compressible

Care advice for a gilet filled with down and feather

The down jacket can be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Follow our guidance by copying the link below:
https://www.forclaz.co.uk/how-should-i-look-after-my-down-jacket

In summary:
1/ machine wash, 30°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle.
2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, and repeat 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry.

The advantages of a gilet

A gilet helps to keep the body warm: it protects the chest, neck and kidneys from the cold, as these areas a especially sensitive to chills.
It is sleeveless so it saves weight in your backpack, provides even more breathability during exercise and excellent comfort of movement when worn under a jacket.
The sleeveless gilet is therefore especially appreciated during exertion while hiking.

In case of rain

This down gilet's fabric is water repellent, meaning the raindrops will slide off the surface of fabric. The water therefore takes longer to soak into the jacket, giving you time to find shelter. But the down gilet is not waterproof. We therefore recommend wearing a waterproof jacket on top in the event of prolonged exposure to rain.

TESTS

All our gilets are laboratory tested in 5 km/h winds and worn as a 2nd layer on a thermal mannequin (over a long-sleeved T-shirt). Their level of thermal insulation is measured on a scale of 1 to 5, so that you can make the choice that best suits your use. Finally, when worn under a Trek 900 down jacket, you will gain an extra 9°C when it comes to this down jacket's comfort temperature rating.
