Sizing and fit information
Slim fit. The inner volume means that this jacket can be worn with a fine lightweight second layer, such as a fleece or light down jacket.
Hood
Stiff visor for maximum face protection.
Pocket system
1 chest pocket with a waterproof zip which the jacket folds up into.
Main components
Blue part - waterproof, breathable 2.5-layer membrane component.
Light blue part - ultra-water-repellent windproof component. This improves the lightness, compressibility and breathability of the jacket. All seams are sealed to enhance overall waterproofing
Component breathability
Aside from the breathability of the fabrics used, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, air holes, mesh, etc.) to improve overall ventilation of all its jackets. These ventilation systems allow you to regulate the temperature inside the garment and also to facilitate the transfer of perspiration generated by the body during physical effort.
Component with coating or a membrane
A coating is like a kind of paint applied to the inside of the fabric that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being more flexible, lighter, more durable and often more breathable than a coating.
Jacket with a membrane.
Component consisting of 3 layers, 2 layers or 2.5 layers
3 layers: the membrane is glued between the 2 inner and outer layers of the component. This structure increases the longevity of the membrane and the performance of the fabric. 2 layers: the membrane is glued only to the outer fabric; the inner protective lining is free. This structure costs less but is generally more cumbersome. 2.5 layers: the membrane has inner protection with a kind of varnish coating rather than an actual layer to make it as lightweight as possible.
Component water resistance
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight, warm and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (with every or 3 washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water repellent treatment.
