      TECHNICAL INFORMATION

      PRODUCT CONCEPT & TECHNOLOGY

      STORAGE ADVICE

Storage: after using or cleaning the tent, dry it thoroughly before storing to avoid bad odours and mould.

      TESTS

The waterproofing of Forclaz tents is validated by testing that a pitched tent placed under a 200 litre/m²/hr shower (tropical rain) for 4 hours prevents water from passing through the seams, flaps, openings, zips, etc. The water column test (=mm Schmerbers) measures the waterproof rating of the fabric only. Wind resistance: tents are set up in a wind tunnel on a rotating platform to expose each side of the tent to the wind. We also carry out numerous field tests in real-life conditions.

      User Restrictions

For more comfort, use a mummy-shaped mattress.

      Tent Design Is Flawed
      1/5
Having purchased a lot of items from Decathlon I am sad to say that this tent has a couple of design flaws. I have wild camped and hiked across Scotland and also completed treks such as the TGO challenge. This tent looked interesting and purchased to try it out for my YouTube channel. Howver having used it a couple of times I have the following concern. After a summit camp in good warm weather I was struggling to get to sleep with very cold legs. Noticed that the mesh door comes right down to ground and when the tempratures dropped and wind starts to pick up, even a slight breeze it will come through this mesh door. meaning that even in your sleeping bag your body gets a gold chill no matter how yoou turn to try and avoid it. If the weather was very severe I would be concerned for the potential for hypothermia to be honest as I couldnt get a good nights slepp and that was in warm weather. Also the small velcro tabs on the inside of the flysheet to hold the main spine pole in place is a poor design and no matter how I tried, trying to get good tension on the guylines without the flysheet slipping to one side or the other was impossible. if you did nearly get it right it would put a curved kink onto the pole. As for tested to force 8 in a wind tunnel I am not believing that either unless I can see the film footage. Having used MSR, Vango, Hilliberg, and many more I feel that the design choices have NOT been tested in real world and not fit for purpose .
