Technical information

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR TRAIL POLES?

Selection criteria: compact design, low weight and wrist comfort. The priority for trail runners is easy storage and fast deployment of the poles to be able to either use them or forget about them while racing, depending on the route. The most compact poles are less than 40 cm long when folded!

Don't hesitate to take hold of them and test them...

HOW TO SELECT YOUR POLE SIZE

To help you find the right size for your poles, you can use the following formula:Your height in centimetres x 0.67
So, if your height is 180 cm, the recommended pole size will be 120 cm

Runner height from 155 to 170 cm = 110 cm poles
Runner height from 171 to 181 cm = 120 cm poles
Runner height over 182 cm = 130 cm poles

Why use trail running poles?

Advantages of trail poles:
A quick-release push-button for rapid folding and unfolding, even when moving.
They help runners save energy during push-off, ensure better balance and stability during technically challenging stretches and can act as stabilisers and shock absorbers on descents to control speed.

WHAT TECHNIQUES ARE USED WHEN RUNNING WITH TRAIL RUNNING POLES?

Firstly, using poles when running is a fairly technical exercise and you will need a little training. It's best to anticipate any difficulties and learn to use them before you race!

Also, there are 2 ways of using trail poles, whether descending or ascending: simultaneous or alternating. Which one you choose will depend on the gradient of the slope and the space available for using the poles:

TECHNIQUE FOR RUNNING WITH SIMULTANEOUS TRAIL POLES:

Useful on steep slopes to relieve your thighs by hauling yourself up with your arms or when descending to hold yourself back and give your legs a rest. You can take several strides each time before your poles touch the ground. Try and lean forward and drive your poles into the ground.

TECHNIQUE FOR RUNNING WITH ALTERNATING TRAIL POLES:

The alternating technique is more appropriate when there is less space available and a gentler slope, this technique requires less power and consists in alternating between your right and left legs, with the opposite arm pushing the pole down in front of you and the other arm behind you, in the air. In this case, it's best not to drive the pole too hard into the ground to maintain a better rhythm. Try and take smaller steps for this technique to become more natural.

Maintenance tips

These poles need to be properly maintained to ensure that they work properly and to prolong their lifetime.

Once dry, you can reassemble the pole sections. Do not lubricate with oil or grease.

TESTS

In order to set our threshold levels, we measured the stresses experienced by the poles in the most demanding conditions of use. During the development phase, each model underwent laboratory tests which replicated the stresses (compression, flexing at three points, etc.) right up to the breaking point. We also tested the components separately (tightening power, wrenching, etc.) Finally, these tests are regularly repeated during the production phase to guarantee a consistent level of quality.

Approved By

Our products are tested by a panel of independent trail runners under the real-life conditions they were designed for. These tests are organised and supervised by a team of engineers dedicated to the task. Our external testers gave these poles a score of 8.2/10
