Description

Taspony originated in Nagoya Achi Prefecture, Japan. It was invented by Mr. Eizo Yamaguchi in 1981 for rehabilitation initially. Until rules were introduced, it became a new sport in Japan, and was then promoted to / was spread to other regions in Asia including Philippines, Indonesia , Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The rules of Taspony are similar to many racket sports. This new sport can be seen as a combination of tennis, badminton and volleyball. Yet, players play without a racket and are only allowed to touch the ball with their palm or the back of their hand. They have to rally over the net by using the technique of groundstroke, volley, serve and smash to win the points.
