Merino sheep wool, due to the greater length and smaller diameter of its fibres, produces a softer yarn with a finer crimp that is more pleasant in contact with the skin than the wool of other sheep breeds. The core of the fibre is hydrophilic and breathable. Since it is a fibre that retains heat even when wet.
