If you want to take your kids out for a spin and are looking for an easy tour that avoids the crowds, the route from Inspiration Lake to Sunny Bay is a good choice, offering scenic views and convenient rest stops.

Located near Disneyland Resort, the Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre offers bicycle rental facilities, but opening hours are subject to weather conditions and visitor numbers, so don’t forget to call in advance. After renting a bicycle, you can cycle around Inspiration Lake or follow the Sunny Bay Waterfront Promenade, which passes by three Disneyland hotels and the Disneyland Resort Pier.

Known as Hong Kong’s ‘back garden’, Nam Sang Wai is popular day-trip destination that is ideal for exploring by bike. After arriving at Yuen Long MTR Station, cycle towards Pok Oi Hospital. After passing through a tunnel and reaching a bridge, you will see the sign for Nam Sang Wai. Follow the road until you reach a crossroad. Turn right and pass King Kai Farm, after which you will reach the Nam Sang Wai wetland area.

Many visitors explore the disused farms nearby or take a ride on the Nam Sang Wai Ferry. The surrounding green areas are ideal for picnics and kite flying. The entire route including a circular tour around Nam Sang Wai is 15 km. The route can be shortened depending on your fitness level.

If you want to incorporate cultural attractions in your tour, why not try cycling the Lung Yeuk Tau Heritage Trail? After starting your tour at Sheung Shui MTR Station, turn left onto the bridge after you reach Sheung Shui Ambulance Depot. 

The cycle trail then takes you along the Sheung Yue River, offering picturesque views of Long Valley, a popular sunset spot. Many visitors also stop at Ho Sheung Heung to sample a famous local snack called ‘Douhua’, which is made from soft tofu.
