Cycling | Best Cycling Routes In Sha Tin

Sha Tin is a popular cycling destination. The Sha Tin area boasts a number of bike parks and cycling paths that offer easy access to Tai Wai, Ma On Shan, Tai Po and other neighbouring areas. Get your cycling gear on and enjoy a relaxing ride along the picturesque Shing Mun River in Sha Tin!

Twin bridge

Twin Bridge is a popular rest stop on the Sha Tin cycling routes to Tai Po and Ma On Shan.
From the bridge, you can see Ma On Shan and Tai Wai. It is also a great place to see the sunset here and take some photos.

Towards wu kai sha pier

As shown above from Twin Bridge towards Ma On Shan: Follow the cycle path to the junction, then turn left and continue along Ma On Shan Promenade until you reach Wu Kai Sha Pier.

Distance: Approx. 6 km
Time: Max. 2 hours (including rest and photo stops)
Technical difficulty rating: 1 (beware of pedestrians; cyclists are required to dismount at the end of the cycle path)

    Towards the junction at tai shui hang

    After crossing Twin Bridge towards Ma On Shan, 
    take a left fork in the path and cycle to the end of Ma On Shan Promenade.
    (Note: No road crossings required!)

    By the beach and pier

    After passing Ma On Shan Swimming Pool and Ma On Shan Park, Wu Kai Sha Pier is on your left.

    After reaching the end of the cycle path, you will need to dismount and turn left into a small lane. Walk to the end of the lane, where you will be afforded a stunning view over the whole of Ma On Shan.

CYCLING TOWARDS SHA TIN (SECTION 1)

From Twin Bridge towards Sha Tin: Follow the wall near Sha Tin Racecourse and cycle to the end of the path at Tai Wai.

Distance: Approx. 6 km
Time: Max. 1 hour (including rest and photo stops)
Technical difficulty rating: 1 (beware of pedestrians; cyclists are required to dismount at the end of the cycle path)

    The cycle path passes Sha Tin Racecourse and the Hong Kong Sports Institute, after which you will reach Sha Tin Rowing Centre.

    Junction between fo tan and sha tin

    You will reach this junction around 200 m after passing the Sha Tin Rowing Centre. Continue straight on until you reach Sha Tin/Tai Wai, or turn right and cycle towards Fo Tan.

    When you reach this mural, you will have reached Sha Tin district and completed one third of the cycling route.

CYCLING TOWARDS SHA TIN (SECTION 2)

Keep riding to the end of the path at Sha Tin or Tai Wai.

Distance: Approx. 6 km
Time: Max. 1 hour (including rest and photo stops)
Technical difficulty rating: 1 (beware of pedestrians; cyclists are required to dismount at the end of the cycle path)

    After reaching this junction, continue straight on for approximately 1 km until you reach New Town Plaza. Turn right and continue until you reach Lucky Plaza.

    After you reach this position, go down the hill to cycle towards Tai Wai. Turn right to reach New Town Plaza.

    Last 250 m before new town plaza

    After reaching the end of the cycle path, you will need to dismount and walk down the hill.

Just across the bridge to Hilton Plaza, there is a Decathlon Sha Tin Store including a cycling department to support cyclists.

    When you push your bike up the hill, you will see two tunnel entrances. The entrance to the right will take you to Sha Tin New Town.

    After passing the tunnel, follow the uphill road. New Town Plaza will be on your left.

    Turn left to reach New Town Plaza, and then enter the Hilton Plaza and take the lift to the 3rd floor. Cross the bridge to reach the cycling department of the Decathlon Sha Tin store.
