1. Ham Tin Bay Campsite

If you fancy walking on a beautiful beach and watching the sunrise and sunset by the sea, Ham Tin is a camping spot definitely worth visiting. The camp is located on the east side of Sai Kung Country Park. Hikers should check all the walkable roads around the area that you can access during the camping trip. Ham Tin is one of the 4 beaches in the Tai Long Wan Bay area. Of the 4 beaches, Ham Tin is the best place for camping, as it is the closest to all the facilities and nearby restaurants, surfboards and camping equipment rental facilities. Since it takes a short walk to reach the campsite, it is recommended to rent camping equipment such as tents and sleeping bags after you arrive.

Location: Ham Tin Bay Beach, Sai Kung East Country Park, Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong

Facilities: Public toilets, restaurants, surfboard rental and camping equipment rental shops.

Transportation: Take a minibus No. 29R from Sai Kung, get off at Sai Wan Pavilion and then walk.

2. Wan Tsai South Campsite

The Wan Tsai South Campsite is a must-visit campsite for all novices. It is equipped with barbecue grills, large bathrooms, toilets and more. However, you will still need to bring your own camping equipment. The campsite is situated on the shores of a big beach, so you can enjoy a spectacular sea view as you camp. The views are amazing at both sunrise and sunset. If the weather is good, you can even see the milky way in the night sky!

Location: Wan Tsai Extension, Sai Kung West Country Park, Sai Kung, New Territories, Hong Kong

Facilities: Pavilions, barbecue pits, benches, tables, and public toilets.

Transportation: Take bus No. 94 from Sai Kung to Wong Shek Pier, and then take the Wan Tsai-bound ferry and walk to the campsite.

3. Pui O Campsite

Another beautiful beach camp spot can be found in Pui O on Lantau Island. Pui O's camp is located on the beach. With public barbecue grills, there are 54 places beside the beach for campers to set up tents. Basically you only need to prepare food and camping equipment for a pleasant weekend. If you wish to visit during Chinese New Year, Labor Day, or National Holidays, it’s best to book in advance as spaces can get tight.
